Southeast (Breast)Milk Share
Southeast Wisconsin (Breast)Milk Share is an informed choice model of human milk sharing that facilitates donor lab testing, safety education and health screening, and accessibility to infants located in Southeast Wisconsin.
Donor milk is free.
Shared breastmilk can optimize infant health and nutrition, while profoundly strengthening social bonds and community resilience. But many mothers do not know another breastfeeding woman or do not feel comfortable asking for such intimate help. Moreover, families want basic assurance that milk from another woman is safe.
We would like to thank Mother's Milk Alliance out of Dane County, Wisconsin for being an innovative leader in this model of milk sharing. Without their hard work and dedication to this cause we would not be able to offer this much needed service in Southeast Wisconsin. Thank you!
There is no minimum amount of milk required to become a donor. We gratefully accept any amount of breastmilk. A mother who commits to maintaining her health and pumping her milk is dedicating a precious and priceless gift.
Donor milk is distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority given to the youngest or sickest children living in Southeast Wisconsin. In general, we reserve donor milk for babies 6 months and younger
